Like most people, my skin gets extremely dry and flaky over the winter and spring. Since temperatures are low, I’m also covered up 24/7. As such, I don’t give body care a priority in my head-to-toe skincare routine. However, once spring starts to sneak up on me, I go into full focus mode and start paying close attention to the skin below my neck. The most important products in my lineup: Nopalera’s Body Exfoliants.

Using a physical scrub is important for several reasons. For starters, it gently buffs away dead skin cells and smooths out rough patches. After a winter of paying nearly zero attention to my body, using an exfoliant makes me feel like I’m bringing my skin back to life by encouraging new skin cells to radiate. Another perk I like is that the sensation of rubbing a scrub into my body helps encourage lymphatic drainage and helps flush out toxins. A win/win if you ask me.

What makes Nopalera Exfoliants unique?

But not all body scrubs are created equal. I could wax poetic about Nopalera’s Body Exfoliants all day, but one of the main things I like about them is they leave your skin moisturized and supple after using them—there’s no need to follow up with lotion. Furthermore, it can also replace your body wash as it effectively cleanses the skin of any buildup and debris. As someone who likes to streamline their routine, this 3-in-1 product is a true time savior.

It’s all about the Prickly Pear Oil – the miracle ingredient

The key ingredient in both the Hibiscus Cactus Flower Exfoliant and Mandarina Cactus Flower Exfoliant is prickly pear oil. Also known as nopal, this natural ingredient has major hydrating properties that help maintain a healthy and moisturized skin barrier. Furthermore, prickly pear oil has a high concentration of anti-inflammatory and anti-aging omegas 6 and 9; healing vitamin E, softening and moisturizing essential fatty acids; reparative amino acids; and brightening vitamin K. In short: it’s close to a miracle ingredient.

While the foundation of both products is the same, they’re more like cousins than twins. The Hibiscus Cactus Flower Exfoliant features prickly pear oil, prickly pear cactus, and hibiscus flower in its formula. The first two work to restore the skin barrier, refine skin texture, and draw in moisture. The kicker here is the hibiscus, which is rich in brightening vitamin C and exfoliating alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs). It’s my go-to product when I want my skin to look bright, tight, and silky smooth.

Prickly pear oil has mostly been used in prestige skin care for its ability to even skin tone, provide a youthful glow, and is good for all skin types.

Time to test it out

While I could rush the process of using this exfoliant and still get impressive results, I prefer to take my time and work the scrub into my skin. I create small circular motions to encourage lymphatic drainage and give myself a little massage, and if I have time, I like to leave the scrub on my skin for one or two minutes to allow the prickly pear to really penetrate my skin and moisturize it.

Each scrub has different aromatherapy benefits as well, both of which I like to enjoy to the fullest. Mandarina has an uplifting citrus scent thanks to the tangerine oil in the formula, so I love using it in the morning to help wake up my senses and start the day feeling uplifted. Hibiscus has an elegant blend of jasmine and grapefruit, which are both stress-relieving scents. As such, I like to use this one at night as I prepare to unwind and go to bed.

Nopalera is worth it

I’ve tried dozens of different body scrubs in my search for one that doesn’t irritate my skin but effectively smooths out any bumps and rough patches, and I can say with full confidence that these two are the best. Beyond keeping my skin smooth and soothed, it also brightens it and pours moisture back into my body. After years of trial and error, I’m so relieved to have finally found the hero product my body care lineup had been waiting for.

Now, I feel fully confident heading into warmer months. Not only does my skin feel healthy, but these two body exfoliants make it look glowier and better than it ever has. They’ve transformed my shower routine into a spa-like experience every time I use them, and the results speak for themselves. This stuff works, and I’m never going back on them.
