With the new wave of skincare innovations, it’s easier than ever to get professional-level results in the convenience of your home. The latest craze? Skincare devices for wrinkles.
Aging comes with amazing perks, but wrinkles aren’t one of them. As we age, we lose elasticity and collagen, which results in looser, dry skin, fine lines and wrinkles. There are at-home devices that can aid in the reduction of wrinkles and help improve skin complexion at a fraction of the price, ranging from laser technology to near-infrared therapy.
With so many options, I did the legwork to find and try the best products. The top 5 contenders for wrinkle reduction were the LYMA Laser, Omnilux Contour, NuFace Trinity, the Solawave Wand, and the NIRA Laser Bundle. I evaluated each on the technology, ease of use, effectiveness, safety, comfort, and price, and I found which one reigns supreme.
Technology and Design
LYMA Laser
LYMA is a handheld device that uses clinical-grade, near-infrared cold laser light that is absorbed through the skin and converted into chemical energy. Through this, the skin strengthens and regenerates. This allows the skin to hold more water and become more hydrated.
Omnilux Contour
Omnilux Contour is a face mask that uses red and near-infrared LED therapy. This works to stimulate new collagen, reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage.
NuFace Trinity
The NuFace Trinity utilizes microcurrent technology to provide a low-level electrical current, sending soft, gentle waves through the skin and down to the facial muscles. This aims to minimize the appearance of fine lines and tighten the skin.
Solawave Wand
Solawave combines four technologies: microcurrents, light therapy, warmth, and facial massage. This works to rejuvenate skin and aid in glowing skin by reducing puffiness and the appearance of dark circles and blemishes.
NIRA Lasers
NIRA’s clinical-grade lasers are at-home devices that use non-fractional, non-ablative laser technology to curb wrinkle production. By gently warming the dermis, both the NIRA Pro and NIRA Precision laser stimulate collagen production to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and reveal younger-looking skin. NIRA Precision’s utilizes photo-therapy technology to target hard-to-reach problem areas.
Ease of Use
Omnilux is cumbersome with straps and a lack of convenience.
Omnilux requires no hands to use, but lacks convenience compared to the other devices. To use the Omnilux Contour, you adjust the straps to keep the mask in place. These straps sporadically slip and are hard to fit just right. You have to make adjustments in your skincare routine to accommodate the Omnilux Contour because it requires 10 minutes to use.
NuFace has an ergonomic design that is user-friendly.
NuFace has an ergonomic design that glides easily along the crevices and edges of your face. It sculpts your cheekbones and jawline to help lift the skin. For a pleasurable experience, you have to apply a serum so the device glides smoothly. The NuFace Trinity is easy to use, but requires more attention to detail. You glide and hold to actively work the skin rather than hold the device in place. Sessions can last anywhere from 5-20 minutes depending on what results you’re striving for.
LYMA Laser and Solawave Wand are both compact devices.
Both the LYMA Laser and Solawave Wand are portable devices. The LYMA Laser works by gliding the device across the skin or holding over specific areas of the face. If holding it over a specific area, you should hold it for at least three minutes. To use the Solawave Wand, apply a serum then move the wand in slow, upward motions. Spend three minutes per each section of the face. Both devices are compact and easy to travel with. They are relatively easy to use, but they lack the guidance and reassurance that more innovative technology might provide.
NIRA Lasers are compact, handheld devices with streamlined usability.
NIRA is similar to the LYMA lasers and Solawave Wand in that it is portable and compact. However, it differs in its innovative technology that streamlines usability. Contrary to the other devices, you don’t have to guess when you’ve done enough to treat your skin. To use both the NIRA Pro and Precision, all you have to do is place the device on the problem area, and then the device will beep once it’s done firing that spot. The Precision only takes 2 minutes out of your day, and the Pro only takes 3-5 minutes.
Effectiveness and Results
LYMA is optimal if you’re looking for overall skin health.
The laser therapy of LYMA is great for nourishing the skin and regenerating it. It utilizes a lower-level laser that penetrates the skin to rebuild the skin. It allows the skin to better absorb moisture. This helps in anti-aging and overall skin health, but not so much addressing deep-set wrinkles. LYMA does act fast. In just 30 days with daily use, the skin becomes thicker, causing the skin to be smoother and healthier.
Omnilux aids in anti-aging, but doesn’t regenerate the skin.
The Omnilux helps address signs of aging before they become deeply set in the skin. The LED light therapy stimulates collagen production at a surface level. The red wavelength reduces inflammation and redness, which helps create a vibrant complexion. The near-infrared wavelength stimulates new collagen and elastin production, resulting in plumper, firmer, more youthful-looking skin. The lack of laser technology doesn’t allow for regeneration. To see effective results, three to five 10-minute treatments per week for four to six weeks are recommended.
NuFace offers temporary lifting, but not deep rejuvenation.
The NuFace is great for sculpting the skin. After use, the skin looks tighter and more lifted. Microcurrents are unable to pass through dense tissue like skin. This technology is great for creating a temporary lifting effect, which reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. However, these results do not persist long-term because it is not able to penetrate for deep rejuvenation. You do get immediate results from the NuFace Trinity, but results only last 1-3 days.
Solawave helps elevate mood and appearance but lacks in wrinkle reduction.
The combination of microcurrents, light therapy, warmth, and facial massage in the Solawave Wand makes for a relaxing skincare experience that helps elevate your mood. Light therapy helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, microcurrents allow for better absorption of skincare products, the massage reduces puffiness, and warmth aids in reducing the appearance of dark circles. Overall, the Solawave Wand improves the skin complexion and the appearance of fine lines. However, it is such a small device so the effects are at a micro level — there is no deep skin regeneration. Users can start seeing results at week four.
NIRA specifically targets wrinkles and fine lines, revealing younger-looking skin.
NIRA works to stimulate collagen production, effectively reducing wrinkles and fine lines. The NIRA Precision actively targets smaller, problematic areas that might be affected by aging, such as the skin around the eyes and mouth. After consistent use, it diminishes crow’s feet and lifts hooded eyes. The Pro has a wider tip, extending its range to the face, neck, chest, and hands. The laser technology effectively aids in wrinkle reduction. Both lasers reveal younger-looking skin that persists long-term because they are regenerating the skin. You can start to see results in just weeks and you’ll see full results at the 90-day mark.
Additional Safety and Comfort Features
LYMA
Built-in cooling, resulting in no pain, redness, or downtime.
Omnilux
Adjustable fit.
NIRA
Utilizes gentle, non-fractional lasers, resulting in no pain, redness, or downtime. Both NIRA lasers offer five comfort levels so you can obtain optimal results and a pleasurable, pain-free experience. It’s the safest and most painless option.
Solawave and NuFace are both safe and pain-free, but they offer no additional features.
Price and Value
LYMA is the most expensive option.
LYMA is at a hefty price of 1,999 GBP. Though the device is effective in reducing fine lines and wrinkles, this is near the price of in-office laser treatments. It doesn’t use warmth, which might help aid in collagen production for long-term results. Therefore, at that price, the value does not pay off.
Omnilux and NuFace are moderately priced for the results they provide.
Both Omnilux and NuFace are moderately priced. The Omnilux is 348 GBP. It’s effective in improving the appearance of redness and texture of skin, but it doesn’t sustain wrinkle reduction. It is relatively high in price for just a skincare device that does not go deeper than the surface layer of the skin. Similarly, the NuFace is 385 GBP, a moderate price for what it provides. Contrary to the Omnilux, however, the microcurrents lift the skin, which can reduce wrinkles. However, you’re only paying for temporary results.
NIRA is higher-priced, but justified by the value it provides.
The NIRA Laser Bundle is a high price of 898 GBP. Though this is expensive, the benefits outweigh the cost. NIRA actively reduces wrinkles and stimulates collagen production. Contrary to some of the other devices, it offers durability and long-term benefits. You’re getting the equivalent of in-office laser treatments in the comfort of your own home without having to pay for repeat visits — you’re saving money.
Solawave is a budget-friendly option.
The Solawave Wand is the cheapest at 198 GBP. This gives you a budget-friendly option if you’re looking to rejuvenate the skin and don’t need to address deep aging-related concerns. It’s ideal for those who have inflammation and redness issues and are looking for a cost-effective way to treat blemishes, dark circles, and scars.

When it comes to addressing aging-related skin issues, there’s a spectrum of devices to choose from depending on your needs. If you have minimal wrinkles and fine lines, but are looking to improve the appearance of your skin and complexion, then the Solawave Wand, Omnilux, and NuFace are good options.
LYMA Laser and NIRA Lasers target collagen production and elasticity to aid in wrinkle reduction. Though LYMA is effective in doing this, it doesn’t deliver long-term results and the precise targeting of deeper-set wrinkles.
NIRA Lasers are the best product overall whether you’re looking to improve your skin appearance, effectively reduce fine lines and wrinkles, or all of the above. The gentle heat of the lasers rejuvenates the skin below the surface, leading to anti-aging results and younger-looking skin. The NIRA Laser Bundle is the best at-home device for wrinkle reduction.

Are any of these devices good for targeting jowls.
Thank you for your review. I did a lot of research on at home lasers and purchased the Nira pro. I’ve been using it for 60 days now and can clearly see a big difference to my skin. Can’t wait to see the 90 day results. I feel relieved after reading your review that I made the right purchase.
