From a quick snack to a refreshing treat, I’m always resorting to smoothies. Smoothies are an easy option on the go that are packed with nutrition and flavor. However, smoothie shops jack the prices up or they compromise nutrition for taste. Similarly, at-home smoothies require complicated recipes.

Smoothie subscriptions are a healthy and convenient alternative that saves time and energy. As someone whose days are booked and busy, smoothies are a go-to option for me, but I don’t have time to stop at a store or make my own. So, I’m on the hunt for a smoothie subscription to save me time while adding nutritional value.

Smoothie subscriptions can vary in type. Some come with premade frozen smoothies while others provide you with the ingredients. With smoothie subscriptions, you have control. You decide what to put into your smoothie without doing the heavy lifting. To find the best one, I tested the top 5 smoothie subscriptions on the market. Which one checked all the boxes?

Revive Superfoods

I’m a smoothie lover through and through, so I’m always excited to try new flavors. Revive Superfoods is a subscription service that allows you to choose your variety of flavors primarily based on health goals. Then, they prepare and ship the smoothies for you. When you receive the smoothie, all the ingredients are perfectly portioned inside the cups, all you have to do is add your liquid of choice and blend.

There are 25 flavors to choose from all ranging in variety and health goals. Some flavors include: Strawberry and Banana, Mango and Papaya, Coffee and Cacao, Dragonfruit and Strawberry, Cherry and Acai, and Blueberry and Cacao. If you’re not in the mood for smoothies, there are also acai bowls. To make the selection process easier, the flavors are categorized into blends based on health goals.

  • Get active blends: These feature high-protein smoothies that can go up to 34g of protein.
  • Wellness blends:  These smoothies are packed with ingredients that keep your skin glowing, improve gut health, and boost immunity.
  • Weight management blends: Light, nutritious smoothies around 100-140 calories
  • Energizing blends: Smoothies curated with energy-boosting ingredients like coffee, maca, and matcha to keep you going throughout the day
  • Healthy indulgence blends. These are your sweet treats without sweeteners or preservatives. All clean ingredients that packed with flavor.

I was thoroughly impressed by the selection to choose from. The best part? You can mix and match between the blends. This allows you to fulfill multiple health goals and experiment with flavors.

When curating your box, you have a range of box sizes to choose from: three different size boxes to choose from: 7+ smoothies, 14+ smoothies, and 21+ smoothies. Your first box is 50% off with the code FB50. A box of 7+ is $8.99 $4.49 per smoothie, a box of 14+ is $7.99 $3.99 per smoothie, and a box of 21+ is $6.99 $3.49 per smoothie. When compared to the number of ingredients you would have to buy for at-home smoothies, this pays off.

To optimize the flavor, Revive Superfoods has a liquid guide to inform you on which one to add to your frozen smoothie. From coconut water to almond milk, you get to try different additions. All the smoothies are rich in flavor and refreshing. Despite having high nutritional value, you can’t tell. The ingredients are flash-frozen at the perfect ripeness to enhance nutrients and flavor.

If you’re looking for a smoothie box that saves time and waste, and provides a variety of nutritional benefits, then Revive Superfoods is the best option. It features high-quality smoothies and a well-rounded service that is completely personal.

Daily Harvest

Daily Harvest is a vegan food subscription service that features smoothies, bowls, flatbreads, soup, and more. Similar to Revive Superfoods, your selection of smoothies comes prepared. All you do is add liquid, blend, and enjoy. Once you blend, you can return the smoothie back into the cup making it sustainable.

Daily Harvest has over 25 flavors to choose from. What drew me to Daily Harvest is the unique flavor combinations, such as Strawberry and Cashew and Mint and Cacao. Many of the smoothies are packed with superfood ingredients to add nutritional value, such as Fennel and Spirulina.

Like Revive Superfoods, the ingredients are flash-frozen, improving taste and nutritional value. The smoothies are refreshing, but not as flavorful as Revive Superfoods. I would describe Daily Harvest smoothies as fresh with a hint of sweetness.

A downside of Daily Harvest is the price. Smoothies are $8.49 each. This is more expensive than store-bought smoothies and slightly higher compared to other smoothie subscription services. The subscription is flexible, however. You can skip, pause, and cancel anytime. You also get free shipping with your first order.

Daily Harvest is a good reliable frozen smoothie brand. It’s good if you’re looking for a refreshing option that isn’t as flavorful.

Splendid Spoon

Splendid Spoon is a plant-based delivery service that is personalized to your dietary preferences. Beyond smoothies, they have soups, grain bowls, noodle bowls, and more. To get started with Splendid, you choose your selection of smoothies, define your dietary preferences, and schedule your delivery date. Contrary to the others, you don’t have to do any work with Splendid Spoon. The smoothies come ready for you.

Splendid Spoon offers over 20 flavors to choose from, including Mango Guava, Banana Flax, and Strawberry Goji. When selecting flavors, you can refine the search based on your dietary preferences, such as caffeine-free or soy-free. You can also sort by benefits, such as energy boosting, gut health, or higher protein.

Their smoothies are packed with nutrient-rich ingredients, but some are not on the same scale as Revive or Daily Harvest. Splendid’s high-protein smoothies are only around 6g of protein, whereas Revive’s can get up to 34g. Additionally, some of Splendid’s smoothies are two servings per bottle, so that means less nutrition per serving.

Splendid Spoon uses a high-pressure process to maintain the freshness and nutritional value of ingredients. The flavor of the smoothies is fresh and tasteful. However, since the smoothies do come prepared for you, they don’t last as long.

With that in mind, price is important. Splendid Spoon offers three size boxes: 7, 14, and 21. These are within the same range as  Revive, but Splendid is at a higher price. Each smoothie is $9.99 each. With a lack of longevity and listed at a higher price, the value doesn’t pay off. Ultimately, Splendid Spoon is ideal for anyone looking to pay a more premium price to have pre-made smoothies (no blender necessary) delivered to your home.

Smoothie Box

Smoothie Box is an organic smoothie delivery service that values farm-fresh ingredients and eliminates the hassle of smoothie prep work. It takes a different approach than the others by delivering pouches to your home rather than cups of ingredients or pre-made smoothies. To get started with Smoothie Box, you can choose their favorite collection of smoothies or select your own. Then, when it’s delivered, you pour the pouch into a blender with a liquid of choice, and enjoy.

Smoothie Box is the smallest variety of the options with only six flavors to choose from. These consist of Mango, Berry, Strawberry Banana, Green, Chocolate, and Orange. When ordering, you have to choose at least four varieties of smoothies. You can also add to your boxes boosters, such as grass-fed collagen and whey protein, to enhance the benefits of your smoothies. Though the flavors themself have healthy and beneficial ingredients, with only six flavors to choose from, the brand itself has less nutritional payoff than the others.

Like Revive Superfoods and Daily Harvest, the ingredients are flash-frozen. Straight from the farm, the nutrients and flavor are locked in fresh. Of the flavors they do have, they are delightful and refreshing.

Smoothie Box is the option with the largest amount of smoothies. The smallest amount in a box you can get is 20 smoothies, with the highest being 25. At a price of $8 per smoothie, the price can rack up, with the lowest total being $160. However, it’s important to note that each pouch has two servings.

Smoothie Box is ideal for someone looking for a more simplistic, organic delivery service that isn’t looking for a variety of flavors.

Kencko

Kencko is an innovative approach to smoothie-making. Their delivery service features instant packets. All you have to do is pour the powdered packet into the brand’s shaker or your own glass, add liquid choice, and shake. Voila!

With it being a packet smoothie, the smoothies are different from your typical consistency. They are more liquidy and runny, which is something to keep in mind if you’re particular about texture. There are only four flavors to choose from:

  • Reds: banana, strawberries, raspberries, and more
  • Greens: spinach, kiwi, banana, and more
  • Purples: blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and more
  • Blues: kiwi, blue spirulina, pineapple and more

Kencko is a lighter option. Each packet consists of freeze-dried organic fruits and veggies, with no added fillers or additives. They only come out to 80 calories. Though this is a healthy option, Kencko is not as satiating as the other options. Whereas the other brands offer smoothies packed with protein, Kencko is more of a snack and can’t act as a meal replacement.

Kencko is the most affordable of the options, however. Each packet is $2.74 and equals to 2.5 servings. You have to fulfill a $44 minimum, which is roughly 16 packets per delivery. The most you can get is 40. You can get up to 10 of each flavor. The shaker bottle is sold separately for $9.90. Kencko is right for you if you’re looking for an affordable and quick option for a snack.

The Bottom Line

Just like any food, smoothies are based on your taste preferences. But if you’re looking to adopt a smoothie subscription service for nutritional benefits as well, you should consider the varying accommodations each brand offers. Ultimately, Revive Superfoods was the most well-rounded product in value, taste, and nutrition.

There are over 25 flavors to choose from that vary in nutritional goals from maintaining gut health to glowing skin to weight management. It is completely customizable to your needs and wants. Revive has good value with each smoothie at a price of no more than $6.99 (don’t forget you get 50% off your first order). With its high nutritional value and easy-to-make blend, Revive is worth the money.
