Let me tell you. I was new to the idea myself, so I did a deep dive into the products to understand what it means to aid one’s thermal health.

Discreet
Let’s not beat around the bush. Sweating is embarrassing. Yes, it’s normal, but it can dictate your mood or even what outfit you wear.
To save myself from further embarrassment, I wanted a discreet device that could provide me with subtle cooling. Upon opening the Embr Wave, I was impressed by the sleek design. You couldn’t tell it was a thermal health device. When I needed to cool down previously, I would aggressively fan my face — I wasn’t subtle at all. But with the Embr Wave, I could click the tiny button on the side and cool down in secret and in peace.
TORRAS Coolify 3 was a bulky device. Since it is worn around your neck, it’s more out in the open. To use the device, you would have to pull it out and put it on, whereas the Embr Wave could be worn at all times. The TORRAS Coolify 3 isn’t discreet, but I wouldn’t mind wearing it in fitness spaces where cooling down is common, such as on a run or in the gym. It’s just not good for regular on-the-go use.
Ease of use/Convenience
I’m not a tech-savvy person. I wanted a device that didn’t require much input for me. I wanted to avoid user error at all costs.
The Embr Wave is truly effective at just a touch of a button. When I felt myself getting overheated, I just touched the dotted “cooling” button on the side of the Wave and the cooling sensations began. This was incredibly useful when I needed it at night and didn’t have to get out of bed to get relief.
To enhance the convenience of the device, the Embr Wave features a smart app. On the app, you can decide how long the sessions last as well as the intensity. Sessions can last anywhere from 5 minutes to 9 hours (great for sleep!). I loved how you could save your favorites and assign them to the two buttons on the side of the Wave for fast access to personalized relief. The app also helps you track and learn when you need relief the most.
The TORRAS Coolify 3 was relatively easy to use too. All you have to do is press the power button on the device to turn it on. It also comes with an app that allows you to decide which effect you want. The app offers cooling, wind, or heat. Each of them has three different intensity levels: Gentle, normal, and hyper. With the simplistic design of the app, it was easy to control how much cooling or air I wanted. Contrary to the Embr Wave, I can’t wear it while sleeping. It’s not as convenient in that regard. However, I was worried about it falling off while doing activities, but the ergonomic design, which features a memory silicone surface, makes it hard to fall off. But, of course, I wouldn’t do crazy movements as it’s not completely secure. The TORRAS Coolify 3 does allow you to use it while charging, which is an added plus if you need to regulate your temperature unexpectedly.
Ultimately, the Embr Wave is all around easier to use and more convenient. It can be used on the go and whenever. The TORRAS Coolify 3 can be used on the go, but isn’t as convenient.
Results
If I was going to invest in my thermal health, I wanted to make sure it paid off. I wanted a device that acted quickly, with long-lasting results. To be honest, when you’re dealing with heat sensitivity or intense chills there’s no time to waste.
The Embr Wave was instant relief, no exaggeration. I would press the dotted button and feel the cooling sensations instantly. It took around 3 minutes for my body to fully cool down. And the sensation wouldn’t go away compared to other cooling devices. I actually stayed cool. When I needed warmth because of the weather, the Embr Wave provided lasting comfort.
One of my biggest struggles was getting good sleep. Before going to bed, I chose the 9-hour All Night Sleep session on the app. When I tell you I didn’t wake up once throughout the night, I mean it. The Embr Wave provided just the right amount of cooling throughout the night that kept me asleep. No more having to get up to change into something cooler or upping the speed on my fan.
As for the TORRAS Coolify 3, the best way I can describe it is a wearable air conditioner. It gives the same effect as standing in front of a fan on a hot summer day. However, this sensation subsided after a few minutes. It works best when you constantly have it on while partaking in activities that get you overheated, such as running or doing yard work.
It felt as if the Embr Wave was running cooling sensations throughout my whole body, whereas the TORRAS Coolify 3 was just blasting cool air that gave an overall effect. Both are effective, but the Embr Wave is more sustainable for everyday and everywhere use.
Bottom Line
I’m officially a thermal health freak. After seeing the benefits the Embr Wave provides for my sleep, focus, and overall well-being, I’m converted. The Embr Wave checked all the boxes when it came to helping with my overall temperature and comfort.
I will say the TORRAS Coolify 3 was effective in cooling me down, but ultimately didn’t fit into my lifestyle because I needed a device that could cool me down anywhere, especially sleep.
